President’s Welcome

Hi there, my name is Brodie, the 2026 TULS President, and I am honoured to welcome you to TULS for 2026!

The UTAS Law School is a wonderful institution to learn, develop, and make new friends. TULS, in my opinion at least, acts to further your student experience by providing social events, extracurricular development opportunities such as competitions, academic assistance, welfare initiatives, and much more. For our new students in 2026, I strongly urge you all to read our First Year Guide and to come along to our Law Camp! This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with your cohort and meet new people. I am very excited to see many of you there and to get to know you all!

TULS initiatives, such as the Student Success Initiative (our student-led tutoring service), welfare events, and sports events, help law students achieve academically while also focusing on their health and wellbeing. Our Careers and Social Justice and Equity portfolios provide a range of events and initiatives to assist students in developing their careers and how they can use their careers to further social justice and equity. Some marquee events include the Careers Fair, Firm Crawl, and the Women in Law Breakfast. For the first time this year, TULS is also hosting an International Women’s Day panel event! In terms of social events, TULS offers five year-group events, Law Camp, Law Cocktail, a new 70th anniversary celebration, and the pièce de résistance, Law Ball. The TULS publications, such as the Pettifogger and the Advocatus, keep law students up-to-date and immortalise the graduating cohort. Our Competitions program does an amazing job of introducing law students to the world of competitions - a wonderful way to develop your skills. Our mooting and skills workshops, multiple Internal Competitions, our new Antarctic Moot, and a range of intervarsity competitions are on offer in 2026. I encourage students to check our website, social media, and noticeboard in the Law Library to stay up to date with TULS in 2026!

Finally, I would like to congratulate and welcome the 2026 TULS Committee; I am very much looking forward to working with each of you to further the UTAS law student experience

Warm regards,

Brodie Donohoe,

TULS President
